Did you know that Green Tea is full of anti oxidants and by including green tea in your diet you can stimulate your metabolism? I am not sure if all the benefits are transferred through cupcakes, but I like to believe they are! So bring on more Green Tea Cupcakes!
Okay so I am breaking one of my own rules with this first cupcake. Usually to be on my five list it must have a recipe on the page, so that we can go check it out and then try and make it ourselves. This one from A Food Lover’s Journey does not have a recipe, but you can make it yourself. You see she has used the Magnolia Bakery’s vanilla cupcake recipe and added Matcha to it to make them ‘Green Tea Vanilla’ and then she has provided a link to Chockylit’s green tea cream cheese frosting. So you can make them after all!
2. Mini Matcha Green Tea Cupcakes
Next up we have a full green tea cupcake recipe from Food Mayhem, well I say full, but I actually mean mini! These cupcakes are light and moist and look adorable!
3. Strawberry Green Tea Cupcakes
If this sounds interesting, it is, the cupcakes come out a swirly mix of pink and green, which are, I have to say, really really pretty! The way this is done is by making up your batch of cupcakes following the recipe that JustJenn provides, and then making in a separate bowl the green tea mix and stirring into it only 1/2 a cup of your cake batter. With the remaining batter you add a little pink coloring and away you go mixing a bit of green into each cupcake! Fantastic!
These cupcakes don’t look anything like the others, because they are not green! But they still contain green tea. Actually the cupcakes is an almond cake topped with green tea frosting, but because Mad City Girl couldn’t locate Matcha powder, she used a liquid version in her frosting. If you can find the powdered type, try it for a greener look. I think though, these look sensational just as they are!
5. Butternut Squash Cupcakes with a Green Tea Ganache
It sounds very ‘different’, squash and green tea are not two flavors that I would rush to combine, but hey, I haven’t tried these yet so cannot comment. They do however look really good! If the squash and green tea idea is too much for you, the Matcha website suggests that you try the ganache on chocolate cupcakes instead.
