Well the word on the street is that Sprinkles Cupcakes will be offering a sneak peak of their upcoming German Chocolate Cupcakes for those of you in Chicago. The free cupcake and hot chocolate shindig is due to occur on Tuesday 11th January from 7-9pm, but you do have to RSVP if you plan to attend.
Thursday 6th January – News is still slowish as we all recover from Christmas and the New Year celebrations, so why not fill up on Hot Chocolate Cupcakes!! These good looking cupcakes are from Fox 11 Online.
Friday 7th January – Zoning laws win the battle for the streets this month. Denver’s Cake Crumb Bakery will restrict its ‘stops’ to private sites and public events they are invited too for January. So if inn Denver you may have more chance hailing a cab than a cupcake. But don’t worry, Cake Crumb Bakery will still have plenty to do during the month, reading! As they determine where they can and cannot take cupcakes too.
Sunday 9th January – Buy your cupcake and profit from it too – how? Crumbs Bake Shop are going to go public in a merger which should be announced today. This will allow Crumbs to go ahead with expansion plans! Read more in the NY Times Deal Book.

Monday 10th January – Sales of baking goods have surged thanks to the trend in cupcakes and celebrity chefs reaching a new point of fame. Sales in some goods are up 70% on previous figures in the UK reports the Independent. I know I have helped this figure!

The popular cupcakery Hello Cupcake turns 2 and to celebrate their birthday they gave away cupcakes. The gourmet cupcakery in Dupont Circle gave away cupcakes to celebrate another “year of sweet success” according to their website.
Hello Cupcake is known for having fresh, seasonal and local ingredients. They also have more than 50 delicious flavors for their sweet and yummy cupcakes. They make their cupcakes from scratch all-day and everyday.
Some of their flavors include triple coconut, raspberry beret, peppermint penny, dulce de leche, cookies-n-cream, pink lemonade and peanut butter. Root beer is the flavor available only for the month of August. It’s easy to see that Hello Cupcake can come up with lots of sweet, scrumptious and yummy flavors!
We hope you had a chance to go to Dupont Circle and wish them a Happy 2nd Birthday. And to enjoy a free cupcake to celebrate this great 2nd birthday. Even if you didn’t, it’s exciting to think another great cupcakery turns 2 today and is going on to do fun and exciting things with cupcakes. We look forward to seeing what Hello Cupcake does for their 3rd year. Happy Birthday Hello Cupcake!

We have a quiet weekend planned this weekend, thank goodness! Perhaps we’ll do some baking!

Today’s Friday photo comes from April Poyer of Apple Blossom Designs, who made these scrummy looking banana walnut cakes with cream cheese frosting. Love the idea of using banana chips on top!
1. Sweets Bakeshop has their code word ‘Cupcake Happy Hour’ from 6pm to 8pm (5pm to 6pm on Sundays) free cupcake offer to visitors of their store.
2. The new cupcake on the streets of Chicago is More, taking their cupcakes mobile next month. The scheduled start date for the rounds is mid-August, and during that first week the truck will travel to Chicago landmark sites and hand out free cupcakes! More information here!
4. Just Cupcakes in Maryland will give a free cupcake coupon to everyone who joins their mailing list.
5. Shortcuts still have one Betty Crocker Coupon for Warm Delights. It expires in September.
