Back to School Apple Cupcakes

by Party Cupcake Ideas on September 16, 2010

Thank you Katrina for sending us these amazing back to school cupcakes. These apple cupcakes are so cute and make a great treat to celebrate the start of a new school year!! Mix your favorite yellow or white cupcake batter and pour into red paper baking cups. Bake the cupcakes according to the recipe and let them cool. Cover the tops with a white frosting. Then dip each cupcake top into a bowl of red sanding sugar. Place a Tootsie roll into the center of the cupcake as a stem. For the leaf I used a sour apple gummy tape which I cut into the shape of a leaf. I also made a miniature version of these apple cupcakes using a small cupcake pan and I used a pretzel stick for the stem instead of the Tootsie roll for a healthier option. These are a great size for the younger kids.

25 Fabulous Autumn Fall Cupcakes

by Sprinkles on August 28, 2010

Caramel Apple Cupcakes by I Heart Cupcakes

And without much further ado, here are our fantastic, fabulous, fall cupcakes.  Hopefully you will feel inspired to bake a batch or two!

1.  Autumn Oranges

These cupcakes are very beautiful featuring a large swirl of cream cheese frosting and come from Mark of Saucemania.  We found them on the Cupcake Blog.  Each cupcake is simply decorated with sprinkles of orange and brown.

2. Double Ginger Carrot Cakes

The Pumpkins do not need to be the only orange thing served this Autumn, why not go with the carrot.  These delicious looking Double Ginger Carrot Cupcakes from Coconut and Lime are fantastic.  Decorated simply they create quite an impact because of their strong autumn colors.

3. Lemon, Pistachio and Millet Cupcakes

If you are keen to try a different recipe this fall then the Cannelle et Vanille website is the place to go.  This is one of my favorite blogs because the photography is all stunning and the cakes look simply amazing.  I haven’t yet made this cupcake, but if you do, give us your opinion, are they really as good as they look?

4.  Why Nut? Hazelnut Cupcakes

As Autumn rolls around in comes the nuts and A Baked Creation has used her Hazelnuts in this fantastic cupcake recipe from The Whimsical Bakehouse.  The cupcakes use brown sugar to sweeten them and have used a spiky decoration on top, and as her pun goes, why nut?

5. Autumn Leaves

The Serial Cooking Blog post here features a number of ideas, many non autumn related but the very last picture by Kim Dowsett Taylor is just an amazing example of what can be achieved in creating an autumn or fall themed cupcake.  These cupcakes feature only autumn leaves but it is the range of colors that make them spectacular.

6. An Autumn Wedding

We include some Autumn or Fall Wedding cupcake ideas in our huge Wedding Cupcake round up, and this is another example of what you can active.  There are a few multicolored leaves scattered over the cupcakes and real flowers inserted around the base to really highlight the yellow and red color combination.  The cakes are created by Wild Cakes.

7.  Brown Leaf Cupcakes

Fancy Flours is showing off these fantastic new cupcake wrappers with these cupcakes, but I also love the way that they have matched the design of the wrapper with these beautiful pale brown almost translucent leaves.  They make a perfect Happy Fall cupcake.

8. Kara’s Autumn Cupcakes

We haven’t visited Kara’s Cupcakes in one of our lists yet, but these little autumn cupcakes definitely caught my eye.  They are little carrot cakes topped with cream cheese frosting and then decorated with an orange squiggle and topped with a little leaf.

9. Cupcakes and Tea

India Tree have a selection of autumn cupcakes on their site with recipes and decorations to boot.  I love this photo showing what you can simply do with buttercream frosting, orange sparkling sugar and fall decorations!

10. Autumn Cupcake Love

Over at Cozy Cottage Michelle loves Autumn and brings a range of her favorite images from different websites and around.  Some are duplicated with our list but many are not, so enjoy this idea gallery!

11.  Chocolate Fall Cupcake Trees

Crazy Delicious Food has this fantastic cupcake fall tree that she does for her autumn cupcakes, but what is best is that she is now sharing all of the steps on how to create them with you!  Well that isn’t quite the absolute best thing, no that is that they really are super easy to create!

12. Caramel Apple Cupcakes

I heart Cupcakes has created these absolutely gorgeous looking little green apple cupcakes a few years ago for Autumn.  They are just so adorable, and the website includes a full recipe, so there is no excuse to not get baking!

13. Pumpkin & Scarecrow Cupcakes

Wow, these are simply amazing from Wisk This!  They feature little scarecrows popping out the top of chocolate buttercream with straw going everywhere!  And the Pumpkin ones look great too.  There are no instructions on how to create these but they could be good for an idea prompter.

14. Pumpkin Cupcakes

For too long the pumpkin pie has ruled the Thanksgiving dinner table, well it is now time for the pie to step aside in favour of these gorgeous pumpkin cupcakes.  They look fantastic and are actually Pumpkin Cheesecake Cupcake, which is vanilla cake with pumpkin cheesecake baked in the middle.  On top of these cupcakes from Enjoy Cupcakes are spiced pumpkin cream cheese frosting and mint garnish.  Sadly there is no recipe, but you could experiment!

15. Apple Cider Cupcakes with Caramel Frosting

At Sugar Punk we have come across a Coconut & Lime Cupcake recipe that looks too good not to pass on to you!  These Apple Cider cupcakes play on that other fall favorite, apples and has a sweet caramel frosting on top.  Of course you could choose one of our fancy decorating ideas instead of the caramel frosting.

16. Chocolate Cupcakes with Caramel

These cupcakes are certainly not for the faint of heart, their full title is Chocolate Cupcakes with Salted Caramel Frosting and Chocolate Rum Ganache Filling, and they look simply divine!  There is a link to the recipe, which is from Ina Garten for the cupcake and to Chocylit for the Salted Caramel Frosting.  My Sweet and Saucy also includes step by step how to make these look SOOOO good.

17. Apple Crumble Cupcakes

As Fall starts rolling into winter and everything gets cooler and colder, there is one desert that just seems perfect to warm everything up and that is the good old apple crumble!  So why not make apple crumble cupcakes?  I know such a super idea, and one that Airy Fairy Cupcakes has experimented with – recipe included!

18. Cupcakes that are a Hoot!

These Owl cupcakes are from Catching Flieflies and are absolutely a heap of fun.  They use autumn favorites in their decoration like butter rum hard candies, choc chips, sliced almonds and whole cashews.  The cake used is a packet mix, which makes it easy to prepare or alternatively try one of our other Autumn cupcake recipes above or below!

19. Maple Walnut Cupcakes with Candied Walnuts

These cupcakes are some of my favorites, I just love the look of those crazy sugar spirals!  I know it is silly, but they completely draw me in with their messy goodness!  But I am getting off track!  These cuppies are from Desert Culinary and include a link to the recipe.

20. Ode to Fall Cupcakes

Well that is the name of the post over at Half Baked, where they have created a batch of Pumpkin Pecan Cranberry Cupcakes for the season!  The cupcakes are frosted in Chocolate and then decorated with I think cardboard leaves on little flags.

21. Fall themed cupcake collars

I strongly suggest if you have kids to check out these ideas from Chica and Jo.  They are perfect if you find your creative talents lie more with coloring and cutting than with baking.  The cupcakes themselves are not the center piece, it is the collars that make them!  Simple instructions are included and the results are brilliant.

22. An Autumn Wreath

This is a fantastic idea of how you can turn eight cupcakes into a fantastic fall wreath.  The website Pat and Kathie is a family blog, but it indicates that the cupcake leaves are made from white chocolate and using washed leaves collected from the garden.  It is a great idea for any autumn centrepiece.

23. Festive Fall Cupcakes

At Stephanie Cooks, she has taken an idea that she saw used for a cookie and converted it into a topping for a cupcake.  These are great autumn cupcakes with twizzler trees, pumpkin candies and fall leaf sprinkles.  There are instructions on how to achieve the decoration.

24. Pretty Aqua Acorn Cupcakes

If you are by now over the fall color scheme, which lets face it is pretty predominantly orange, then these are the cupcakes for you.  They are aqua and chocolate inside, frosted with aqua, and then decorated with autumn style acorns and come from Allen Designs.

25. Final Fall Wrap Up

There is lots of different variety on Dish with the Diva gathered from around the sites or flickr or somewhere, what is important is that they are here for you to feast your eyes all over and get inspired.  There is a rooster / chicken, multi shaded orange cupcakes, some Halloween ideas, pumpkins and apples a delicious maple cupcake and more!

A piece of an Oreo sipster straw cookie for the stem and green fondant leaves. These are some beautiful apples. Thanks for sharing Laura!
