4th July

Cleaning away the 4th of July crumbs!

by Sprinkles on July 8, 2010

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!

Thanks to everyone who emailed me to let me know that you were baking, unfortunately it seems that the baking did not quite include enough cupcakes!

We did however have a bunch of fantastic ideas, which I am very excited to share with you! The first is from Michelle, who created these fantastic little cupcake bites from vanilla cake tinted red and blue, separately, and mixed together before dipping in the candy melts.  I think they are certainly a winner and would have gone down a treat at any 4th July party!

The next image is from Alicia, who has shared with us her first attempt at home made buttercream frosting on these 4th July cupcakes.  Certainly I wouldn’t have guessed, they look so yummy!  Thanks so much for sending them in.

Cupcake_grl was inspired by the new book ‘What’s New, Cupcake’ and made these awesome flower cupcakes, which she thinks complete in red, white and blue look like fireworks!  I couldn’t agree more, they look absolutely fabulous!

CupcakeDD also  got super creative with her baking and made some amazing ice cream cone cakes, complete with clown heads!  These are vanilla and strawberry cake layered in the ice cream cone then topped with tinted vanilla-almond buttercream.  They look divine!

Last but not at all least, as I think this one is super beautiful and creative is the cupcake from Jessica ( Gigglin )another super talented cupcake baker, who came up with the inspired idea to make these cupcakes, which are red white and blue inside and out!  With so much going on inside this cupcake, that white frosting with sprinkles is a perfect touch!

Happy 4th of July!

by Sprinkles on July 4, 2010

Celebrations provide an excellent excuse to get baking in the kitchen, and the 4th of July is just the ticket!  Glory, author of the blog Glorious Treats did just that creating these great cookie cake toppers for her cupcakes.

For the ones below she used a small star shaped cookie cutter and some four inch lollipop sticks, but I don’t need to tell you how to make them, she has provided a heap of instructions along with more photos of these patriotic cakes on her blog post ‘4th of July Cupcakes with Cookie Toppers‘, so be sure to check it out.

And remember if you have great photos to share of your latest creation, send them in, we would love to see them!
