You have to love a pretty cupcake right? I do and one thing I noticed is that so many of them have these gorgeous little pearl balls on top. They add a little bit of magic to the cupcake decoration, so I thought I would create a mini pearl ball idea file, with some of my ideas along with these expertly executed ones!
In this picture to the right, by Eloise Cupcakes she has used the pearl balls in two ways, the first is as the centre for the fondant flower, and the second is lightly pushed into her embossed fondant to create a swirl pattern. Both look fantastic!
Below we have four cupcakes, clockwise they are:
3. Our first design below comes from ShamsD’s flickr site, where she has used her pearls directly on the fondant which she has embossed with small flowers. This is a great idea if you want to avoid making extra flowers.
4. On snowflake cupcakes you can end up with a lot of spare icing which isn’t decorated in anyway. Give the impression of smaller snowflakes by adding some small white pearls to those empty areas which is what Small Things Iced has done with these cupcakes.
5. Sugar Boom Bev has embossed the white fondant of the cupcake then laid a small fondant ribbon across. Applying a small flat icing heart to which she has applied the pearl balls has created a little ribbon buckle that is very adorable and would be perfect for any wedding.
6. This one is beautiful by Small Things Iced and shows what you can do very simply by embossing your fondant and then using the small pearl balls as a border. Very girly and pretty!
