Cupcake Wars – Alma Awards

by Party Cupcake Ideas on December 28, 2009

A new series on The Food Network aired Sunday night 7pm PST called Cupcake Wars. The contestants were from Mission Viejo California Two Parts Sugar, Montecito California Whodidily Cupcakes, Los Angeles Sweet E’s Bake Shop and from Los Angeles Hotcakes Bakes. The four bakeries competed in elimination style judging through three rounds. I won’t spoil the outcome in case you want to catch the replay of the first episode of Cupcake Wars at the Alma Awards. I will tell you that the winner of the competition was chosen to serve 1,000 cupcakes at the Alma Awards and it was nail biting to the end.

You can watch another airing of Cupcake Wars on The Food Network Jan 2 at 4pm ET.

If you watched the first episode of Cupcake Wars, what did you think? Did it inspire you to cook or get you anxious watching the competition? What would you like to see in the next episodes?

I caught the last half of the show and I LOVE the idea of it. It was interesting to see that it was definitely not a rehearsed thing when they were presenting as you can tell that some of their presentation skills were not so well. It was definitely neat to see the whole process although I like the runner up much more than the one that actually won. I thought her cupcakes and flavors seemed so much better than the other but the based their final decision more on the presentation of the cupcakes. I am looking forward to seeing the next show. It was neat!!!
