Hello Cupcake-teers, it is time for news of the week.. but it is a mixed batch of cupcakes this week! From presidents to celebrities to unhappy coupon purchasers and adorable cupcake shoes!
Wednesday 25th August – No winners out of the Groupon coupon deal for That Takes the Cupcake in the Marina. According to SFist, people flocked to the cupcake store to collect their prepaid Groupon for cupcakes at 55% off the normal price. The company struggled to cope, then apparently locked out Groupon customers, and refused to accept the eco-friendly iPhone version of the coupon. The result, a stream of poor reviews for the Cupcake supplier and lots of unhappy cupcake buyers.
Wednesday 25th August – The sighting of a secret service agent in Martha’s Vineyard caused a cupcake stakeout at Sweet E’s cupcake shop last week. The rumor quickly spread that perhaps the president and first lady were planning on bringing their girls in for a cupcake. Media, supporters and general passers by gathered out the front in the hope of a glimpse. But in the end it turns out that the President didn’t have a sweet tooth – “Of course, there is always tomorrow” quips CBS News.
Friday 27th August - Celebrity Baby Scoop has revealed for a pregnant Christina Applegate that the things she wants most are fried cheese and cupcakes. Hopefully not combined! The star is expecting her first child and is still getting used to the food cravings.
Saturday 28th August – Whitney Port has just launched her signature cupcakes “Whittie’s Cinaminnie’ on the Sweet E’s bakery truck in California. The cupcakes are for a good cause raising money for the American Cancer Society, but the Daily Mail ponders whether she has ever had a cupcake on the basis of her “shockingly skinny pins”.
Sunday 29th August – Cupcakes are not just a tasty treat they are also super cute as a craft or art design for what else but kids clothing. Amy Schultz Osterloh of Dallas has combined her love of craft and children’s clothing to create Cupcake Kids Artwear says My Journal Courier. Most of the clothes are hand painted and are becoming very fashionable! I personally think the little girl shoes are simply ADORABLE!
