Saturday, July 30th was a good day for cupcake lovers. In Cold Spring, Minnesota their annual Cold Spring Hometown Pride Festival featured a new fun event: a cupcake-eating contest. According to SCTimes.com, the event was sponsored by Cold Spring Bakery.
What could be more fun than eating as many cupcakes as you can. The “prize” for every participant? They were given the extra cupcakes as a special treat to enjoy. Cold Spring Bakery baked 30 dozen cupcakes for the event. Winners were awarded a $100 gift certificate to Cold Spring Bakery and a t-shirt. The cupcake-eating contest expected to have about 15 contestants in each competition.
Luis Walles was the winner in the senior division, eating 12 cupcakes in just 2 minutes and 14 seconds. That’s a lot of cupcakes – eaten very quickly!
What a great event for a town festival and we think they are off to a great start with a successful first year event. Congratulations to the Cold Stone Bakery!
Entering a cupcake-eating contest? Try our helpful tips to cross that finish line…perhaps even win a prize!
Runners run. Students study. Cupcake eaters…eat! Before your cupcake-eating contest, try a bit of practice. Oh we knew this was going to be difficult to convince you to do! Anything gets a little easier if you have some advance practice. Start a few weeks ahead so you can tweak your performance.
Eat a light meal the morning of. Something healthy and well balanced to get your day started off right. Some contestants might think that by not eating – they are preparing better for the event. But not eating anything could make you light headed, jittery and nervous. Far better to eat something healthy and keep yourself in a serene state.
Finally: enjoy the whole contest experience. Part of the great fun of entering a cupcake eating contest is being around others who love cupcakes as much as you do. Sometimes winning takes a bit of luck and a faster hand (or a bigger stomach). It’s important you enjoy the experience of entering this type of contest, as eating delicious cupcakes should be pleasurable and something you want to do. Spend time getting to know your fellow contestants – we bet you’ll get to know other cupcake lovers and can talk about cupcakes with them!
