Some people think of some very creative ways to propose and pop the big question. I love this creative and fun way that Phil proposed to his fiance. Each time they eat a cupcake, I’m sure they remember this special day. Since they used cupcakes for the engagement, do you think they had cupcakes at their wedding?

Wedding cupcakes are quickly becoming a favorite alternative to traditional wedding cakes. Having an assortment of cupcakes instead of a huge cake with multiple layers for your wedding is a simple yet elegant idea. You and your guests do not have to share a cake.

You do not need to settle for a singular flavor, which is mostly the case for traditional wedding cakes. You can serve an assortment of versatile cupcake wedding cakes with a multitude of flavors and frostings so that your guests can choose which flavor they like and you can each have your own individual and equally delicious cupcakes. You can even use these tiny cakes as centerpieces for your reception or as party favors for your guests to take home.

If you do decide to use an assortment of tiny wedding cakes instead of just a huge one with a singular flavor, here are a few helpful tips on how to turn a lovely batch of cupcakes into the main attraction on your wedding day:

1. One of the many advantages of using wedding cupcakes is that you can have a multitude of tiny wedding cakes with a variety of flavors for your guests to choose from. It’s up to you how many different kinds of cakes you want but having two to three different flavors is ideal. A classic choice would be a combination of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Lemon cupcakes are also a good choice, as well as red velvet cupcakes because of their beautiful red color. If you don’t want to use conventional cupcake recipes, you can create your own and be creative with your choices. You can try serving cupcake versions of cheesecakes or chocolate molten cupcakes or cupcakes with a lot of different frostings like chocolate cream, butter cream, and cream cheese.

2. Presentation is important. Careful arranging of your wedding cupcakes is essential. You can place your cupcakes in boxes and stack them neatly on top of each other to resemble a cupcake tree. Or you can place your cupcakes in decorative platters or trays. A popular way of showcasing wedding cupcakes is to incorporate a tiered cupcake wedding cake arrangement.

Having wedding cupcakes is a simple and relatively inexpensive alternative to the traditional cakes that we are used to seeing in weddings. Simply keep in mind these helpful tips and your wedding cupcakes will surely be the main attraction on your wedding.

Tiramisu Cupcakes

October 8, 2009

Thank you Andrea for sharing these cupcakes with us.
For a more sophisticated cupcake, I made Martha Stewart’s Tiramisu cupcakes. They were labor intensive but turned out delicious. The cake was dense and almost a little crunchy, much like a lady finger used in the traditional dessert. I substituted almond extract for a [...]
